M10 Combos

~
Time to get up some simple Magic 2010 combinations. These cards are all standard legal and provide decent combos OR synergies. Drop me a line if you see a combo which is out of line or to suggest a nice combo yourself !

Preeminent Captain 2W (r)
Creature - Kithkin Soldier, 2/2
First strike
Whenever Preeminent Captain attacks, you may put a Soldier creature card from your hand into play tapped and attacking.
+
Captain of the Watch 4WW (r)
Creature – Human Soldier, 3/3
Vigilance (Attacking doesn’t cause this creature to tap.)
Other Soldier creatures you control get +1/+1 and have vigilance.
When Captain of the Watch enters the battlefield, put three 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.

Swing with Pre-eminent Captain, have the other captain join for free and before you know it, you have 5 (4 of them vigilent) creatures dealing a total of 12 damage.

~
Blinding Mage 1W (c)
Creature – Human Wizard, 1/2
W, T: Tap target creature.
+
Royal Assassin 1BB (r)
Creature – Human Assassin, 1/1
T: Destroy target tapped creature.

By turn four, you are killing your opponent's fatties for only one mana - nice ! This combo is sort of what Deathbringer Liege does but just a bit worse.

~
Prized Unicorn 3G (u)
Creature – Unicorn, 2/2
All creatures able to block Prized Unicorn do so.
+
Righteousness W (u)
Instant
Target blocking creature gets +7/+7 until end of turn.

Unavoidable Unicorn is unavoidable . . . swing with the horned horse and play Righteousness - so very mischievousness.

~
Angel’s Mercy 2WW (c)
Instant
You gain 7 life.
+
Cradle of Vitality 3W (r)
Whenever you gain life, you may pay 1W. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature for each 1 life you gained.

Yep - 7 life and 7 +1/+1 counters for 8 mana is not a bad deal - especially in the late game. Angel's mercy reminds me of 'Kiss of the Amesha' and 'Sylvan Bounty'

~
Alluring Siren 1U (u)
Creature – Siren, 1/1
T: Target creature an opponent controls attacks you this turn if able.
+
Divine Verdict 3W (c)
Instant
Destroy target attacking or blocking creature.

If you really, REALLY hate that fatty your opponent is holding back and threatening you with, drop this combo - not that bad.

Djinn of Wishes 3UU (r)
Creature – Djinn, 4/4
Flying
Djinn of Wishes enters the battlefield with three wish counters on it.
2UU, Remove a wish counter from Djinn of Wishes: Reveal the top card of your library. You may play that card without paying its mana cost. If you don’t, exile it.
+
Liliana Vess 3BB (m)
Planeswalker – Liliana, 5
+1: Target player discards a card.
-2: Search your library for a card, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.
-8: Put all creature cards in all graveyards onto the battlefield under your control.

I am thinking of using Liliana to search my library for the biggest / absurb fatty and then saving my mana by paying only four for it (yes - I am thinking about Progenitus). If you don't like this, just use Elvish Piper instead and pay only one - this however is rather situational as you have to have Progenitus in your hand.

Prodigal Pyromancer 2R (u)
Creature – Human Wizard, 1/1
T: Prodigal Pyromancer deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
+
Quietus Spike 3
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature has deathtouch.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, that player loses half his or her life, rounded up.
Equip 3

I have always liked the Spike and now that the father of Timmy is back, I'm planning something sinister with it again.

~
Duress 1B (c)
Sorcery
Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a noncreature, nonland card from it. That player discards that card.
+
Rise from the Grave 4B (u)
Sorcery
Put target creature card in a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. That creature is a black Zombie in addition to its other colors and types.

Not the best combo at all but I can see this getting some casual play.

~

+

Traumatize 3UU (r)
Sorcery
Target player puts the top half of his or her library, rounded down, into his or her graveyard.
+
Haunting Echoes 3BB (r)
Sorcery
Exile all cards from target player’s graveyard other than basic land cards. For each card exiled this way, search that player’s library for all cards with the same name as that card and exile them. Then that player shuffles his or her library.

This combo is just junk-yard dog mean and nasty. This is your opponent's deck going mill skinny really fast.

~
Underworld Dreams BBB (r)
Enchantment
Whenever an opponent draws a card, Underworld Dreams deals 1 damage to him or her.
+
Howling Mine 2 (r)
Artifact
At the beginning of each player’s draw step, if Howling Mine is untapped, that player draws an additional card.

Two guaranteed points of damage to your opponent each turn is nothing to turn your nose up on.

Master of the Wild Hunt 2GG (m)
Creature – Human Shaman, 3/3
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield.
T: Tap all untapped Wolf creatures you control. Each Wolf tapped this way deals damage equal to its power to target creature. That creature deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among any number of those Wolves.
+
Wren's Run Packmaster 3G (r)
Creature - Elf Warrior, 5 / 5
Champion an Elf (When this comes into play, sacrifice it unless you remove another Elf you control from the game. When this leaves play, that card returns to play.)
2G: Put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token into play.
Each Wolf you control has deathtouch. (When it deals damage to a creature, destroy that creature.)
5 / 5

So . . imagine your backyard full of rabid dogs - yeah, I would mess up my gitch too. A pack of 2/2 tokens with deathtouch ain't no laughing matter - you should get these cards.

Master Transmuter 3B (r)
Artifact Creature - Human Artificer 1/2
B {T}: Return an artifact you control to its owner's hand: You may put an artifact card from your hand into play.
+
Darksteel Colossus 11 (m)
Artifact Creature – Golem, 11/11
Trample
Darksteel Colossus is indestructible. (“Destroy” effects and lethal damage don’t destroy it.)
If Darksteel Colossus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Darksteel Colossus and shuffle it into its owner’s library instead.

Rule #1 : yours truly never pays full price for anything (or so I wish) : This is a great way to save 10 mana and get a great artifact critter.
